Euroweek Names Citigroup as Europe's Best Issuing and Paying Agent for 2003
New York, May 12, 2004 – Citibank Agency and Trust, for the third consecutive year, was named by Euroweek as Europe’s best Issuing and Paying Agent for Euro Medium Term Notes (MTN) for 2003. This year’s award included polls of top Euro MTN borrowers and dealers, both of whom chose Citigroup as Europe’s best bank for Euro Medium Term Notes, when judged across a range of criteria.
Bankers who were polled praised Citigroup for its “flexibility and the speed with which it processed trades,” EuroWeek reported in announcing the annual award winners. Citigroup also was chosen as the bank with the best distribution and took second place in the most active dealer and most innovative bank categories.
“One of the reasons Citigroup was singled out by its rivals was the success of its drive in the euro-denominated sector,” according to EuroWeek. In addition to being named best Euro MTN bank by its peers, Citigroup took the top award for best dollar Euro MTN bank and placed second in the yen Euro MTN bank category.
“We are delighted to be recognized by our clients and our peers for the quality and innovation of our services,” said Jeffrey Volk, Managing Director with Citigroup Global Transaction Services and head of the Agency and Trust business. “It’s this type of recognition that has enabled us to achieve market leadership for issuing and paying agency services for Euro Medium Term Notes and Euro Commercial Paper as well as the Eurobonds market.”
